The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the direct, on-site supervision of daily waste, recycling, and composting operations in support of federal installations and commercial customers. This role provides hands‑on leadership to field personnel while ensuring full compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and ZWS operating procedures. The supervisor serves as the primary link between frontline employees and contract management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide daily, on‑site supervision of Drivers, Helpers, and Dispatch personnel to ensure uninterrupted contract performance.
  • Enforce all safety, environmental, and operational requirements in accordance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, installation regulations, and ZWS Safety Management System.
  • Conduct daily tailgate meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and safety briefings to reinforce accident prevention and compliance.
  • Monitor route execution, service completion, and field performance to ensure adherence to contract schedules and service levels.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in real time, escalating concerns to Contract or Operations Management as required.
  • Inspect vehicles, containers, and equipment to ensure proper use, condition, and reporting of defects.
  • Support incident, near‑miss, and accident reporting, including initial fact gathering and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate field records, logs, and reports using ZWS‑approved systems and applications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for government representatives during daily operations, site walks, and inspections.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience supervising field personnel in waste management, transportation, logistics, or similar operational environments.
  • Working knowledge of safety‑sensitive operations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and operate company vehicles.
  • Strong situational awareness and problem‑solving abilities.

    Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with mobile applications, fleet systems, and basic Microsoft Office tools.
