The Shipping Supervisor oversees daily operations of the shipping department in our dairy manufacturing facility, ensuring accurate, efficient and timely shipment of products while maintaining compliance with company policies, GMPs, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate activities of shipping staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Collaborate with Department Managers to implement and evaluate continuous‑improvement practices.
- Manage scheduling and cover staff vacancies per SOP.
- Oversee all shipping activities to ensure orders are processed, loaded and shipped accurately and on time.
- Verify shipments against orders, ensuring accuracy in product count, labeling and documentation.
- Monitor inventory control to minimize discrepancies and keep accurate records.
- Coordinate pick‑ups and deliveries with carriers and third‑party logistics providers.
- Address and resolve shipping‑related issues promptly to minimize delays.
- Provide direction, training and coaching to shipping team members.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to meet productivity targets.
- Foster a positive, teamwork‑focused work environment that promotes continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper communication between shifts and departments to streamline operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory guidelines and food safety standards (SQF, GMPs, HACCP).
- Conduct regular inspections of shipping areas, equipment and procedures to ensure safety compliance.
- Train employees on proper handling and loading procedures to prevent damage and ensure safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shipping area to meet food safety and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain accurate shipping records, including bills of lading and packing slips.
- Track and report key shipping metrics, such as on‑time delivery rates and shipping errors, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead daily shift meetings.
- Follow FIFO.
- Engage in waste‑reduction efforts and record necessary waste‑tracking documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years operational leadership experience in food manufacturing.
- Experience in the dairy industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of shipping and logistics procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and decision‑making under pressure.

Employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Frequently required to stand and walk. Must be able to reach, bend, extend, and lift 50‑60 pounds.
Work Environment- May require working in a cooler room with varying temperature and contact with water or dairy liquids.
