Welder Trainee

We specialize in full service mechanical solutions which include engineering, coordination, prefabrication assembly, construction, service and maintenance.

REPORTS TO:

Fabrication Manager

• Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional overtime during afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed. Hours may involve start times as early as 5:30 a.m.

  Specific project requirements that may require afternoon or evening/night shifts.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve conflict professionally with the assistance of management.
• Interface effectively, ethically and professionally with all levels of individuals
• Communicate effectively in English (aural, verbal, and written).
• High School Diploma or equivalent (experience may be substituted for education)
• Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for duration of shift.
• Able to lift up to seventy-five pounds (75 lbs.) without assistance.
• Possess strong desire, willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc).

• Comply with all OSHA regulations and Shapiro & Duncan Safety Program.
• Assist welders and pipe fitters with screens to protect others from flash burns.
• Opportunity to become a certified pipe stick/mig welder.
• Work with welders and pipe fitters, on all piping aspects of job.
• Assist with the Coordination of any Pre Fabrication layout or installation.
• Operate machinery (Vernon Pipe Cutting Machine, Band Saw, etc.)
