The successful candidate will inspire young learners to explore the world around them, understand different cultures and perspectives, develop critical-thinking skills, and make meaningful connections between classroom learning and real-world issues.
The ideal candidate will use inquiry-based, project-based, and collaborative learning approaches to make Social Studies and Global Perspectives engaging and relevant for primary students.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for Grades 4–6.
Teach key concepts in Social Studies, Geography, History, Civics, Culture, Environment, Sustainability, and Global Awareness .
Develop students' curiosity, questioning, research, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Encourage students to explore different perspectives and develop respect for diverse cultures and communities.
Use hands-on activities, discussions, storytelling, projects, presentations, fieldwork, and technology to enhance learning.
Design and guide individual and group inquiry projects.
Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Collaborate with grade-level and subject teachers to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Support school events, exhibitions, field trips, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress and learning.
Participate actively in professional development and wider school initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History, Geography, Humanities, or a related field .
B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
2+ years of primary teaching experience preferred.
Experience teaching Social Studies, Global Perspectives, Humanities, or related subjects.
Strong understanding of primary education and child-centered learning.
Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
Ability to create engaging and differentiated learning experiences.
Confidence using technology and digital learning resources.
A passion for developing students as confident, curious, responsible, and globally aware learners .
Preferred
Experience with any of the following will be an advantage:
Cambridge Primary / Cambridge Global Perspectives
IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
CBSE or other international curricula
Inquiry-based and project-based learning
Interdisciplinary teaching
Student exhibitions, debates, presentations, or community projects
