What we are looking for:
The Principal BI & Data Engineering Lead will deliver enterprise-grade business intelligence solutions exclusively within the Microsoft Azure Data Stack, including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and related services. Embedded as a consultant within Microsoft, this role will partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, high-performance BI solutions. The lead will design and optimize data models, implement advanced analytics features, and ensure data accuracy and governance across Microsoft’s cloud-native environment.

Success in this role requires both deep technical expertise and the ability to act as a trusted advisor, influencing solution design and adoption of Microsoft BI best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of data analysts and BI developers, providing technical guidance, design
standards, code reviews, and best practices

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of end-to-end analytics and BI solutions using Power BI, from data ingestion to executive-ready dashboards

• Own and execute data engineering responsibilities, including data ingestion, transformation,
modeling, and orchestration using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, and related
Azure services

• Build high-impact, intuitive Power BI dashboards and reports that enable data-driven decision-making across multiple business domains

• Drive stakeholder engagement by partnering with business leaders, product owners, and Microsoft stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate business needs into robust analytics solutions

• Ensure data quality, accuracy, governance, and refresh reliability, adhering to Microsoft security,
compliance, and data governance standards

• Apply data science and advanced analytics techniques (statistical analysis, forecasting, segmentation, and predictive modelling) to uncover trends, generate insights, and support strategic business decisions.

• Partner with stakeholders to design, prototype, and operationalize data science solutions, leveraging Python, PySpark, and Azure analytics services, and integrate results into Power BI dashboards for business consumption

• Collaborate closely with platform, data engineering, and architecture teams to align BI solutions with enterprise data strategy

• Establish and enforce BI standards, documentation, and best practices for dashboard design,
performance optimization, and data modeling

• Stay current with Microsoft BI, Azure, and Fabric roadmap features, continuously improving analytics capabilities and team effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field

• 15+ years of experience in business intelligence or data visualization roles

• Experience with Python and/or PySpark for data transformation or advanced analytics

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Services, Microsoft Fabric, and enterprise data
warehousing concepts

• Proven proficiency in SQL and Azure-native data transformation pipelines

• Advanced expertise in Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, performance optimization, and
visualization best practices

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and deliver analytics solutions at scale

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and consulting skills, with experience
influencing senior leadership.
