Senior Tech Lead – Azure Data Lake

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tech Lead to spearhead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale data lake solutions. In this pivotal leadership role, you will manage a cross-functional team of up to 20 engineers, guiding them through complex cloud data platform projects using cutting-edge Microsoft Azure technologies. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business and act as a key decision-maker in driving architectural direction, technical strategy, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: o Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable Azure-based data lake solutions. o Provide deep technical guidance on tools such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, SQL, Power BI, and Fabric/Tableau. o Oversee code quality, development standards, and Dev Ops best practices using Visual Studio, TFS, and Git.

• Team Management: o Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of developers and data engineers. o Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. o Support career development and performance management of team members.

• Project Delivery: o Own end-to-end project delivery, ensuring timely execution within budget and scope. o Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and enterprise architects in an Agile (SCRUM) environment. o Ensure alignment with enterprise data architecture standards and compliance requirements.

• Stakeholder Engagement: o Act as the primary point of contact for technical discussions with business and IT leadership. o Translate business requirements into technical specifications. o Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on development experience in Azure Synapse, Databricks, and SQL Server within large-scale enterprise environments.

• 3+ years of experience leading technical teams or managing development teams in Agile environments.

• Proven experience with SAP BW on HANA and familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

• Strong understanding of data architecture, event-driven design, and data modeling principles.

• Proficient in Agile methodologies, especially SCRUM.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Availability for inclusion in an on-call support rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with IBM MQ or similar messaging systems.

• Expertise in performance tuning and optimization in cloud data environments.

• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

• Exposure to modern data platform technologies such as Microsoft Fabric.

• Familiarity with Alteryx
