Open edX.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Open edX Specialist to manage
the deployment and installation of the Open edX platform. The ideal candidate will have
a strong background in deploying and extending Open edX, along with coding
capabilities to ensure seamless integration and functionality. This role will serve the
platform and will contribute significantly to our online learning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Deployment, and Installation Management:
Oversee the complete lifecycle of
the Open edX platform, from initial development to deployment and ongoing
maintenance. Ensure that all installations are executed in accordance with
organizational standards and best practices, leveraging tools like Docker and
Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
Customization and Extension of Open edX Components:
Analyze
organizational requirements and design custom components, plugins, and
extensions for the Open edX platform. Utilize technologies such as Python,
JavaScript, and React to enhance existing functionalities and create tailored
solutions that improve user experience and engagement. Integrate third-party
applications and services (e.g., LMS, content management systems, payment
gateways) with Open edX.

Platform Maintenance:
Manage Open edX platform updates and upgrades.
Define roadmap for regular platform updates. Monitor platform performance and
troubleshoot issues. Ensure platform security and compliance with relevant
standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with the software development
team, instructional designers, and project managers to ensure seamless
integration of Open edX with other educational technologies and platforms.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to align project goals and
timelines.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and
resolve deployment and operational issues related to the Open edX platform.
Utilize monitoring tools and logging systems to diagnose problems, implement
corrective actions, and ensure minimal downtime.
Backup Support and Service Continuity:
Serve as a backup for the Open edX
platform, ensuring that service continuity is maintained during periods of high
demand or when primary resources are unavailable. Develop and implement
contingency plans to manage potential outages or performance issues.
Documentation and Configuration Management:
Maintain up-to-date
documentation of deployment processes, configurations, and architectural
decisions related to the Open edX platform. Create user manuals and technical
guides to assist team members and stakeholders in understanding the platform's
features and functionalities.
Continuous Learning and Best Practices:
Stay current with Open edX
developments, community contributions, and emerging best practices in online
education technology. Participate in forums, webinars, and workshops to
enhance technical knowledge and bring innovative ideas to the organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information
Technology.
Overall 8+ years of experience, with at least 2+ years of experience working on
Open edX.
Proven experience with Open edX deployment and extension creation.
Strong coding skills in languages relevant to the Open edX framework (e.g.,
Python, Django, JavaScript, MySQL, Mongo

DB).

Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and platforms.

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in an educational technology environment.
Understanding of online learning methodologies and standards.
Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and tools.
Experience on Azure preferred.
