About the Role
We are seeking an experienced  Postgre

SQL PL/SQL Data Engineer  to design, develop, and optimize high-performance data solutions using  Postgre

SQL . The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in  PL/pgSQL (PL/SQL-style procedural programming) , complex query optimization, and large-scale data processing.
In this role, you will work closely with application teams, architects, and analytics stakeholders to build reliable, scalable, and secure data layers that support enterprise applications and reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities
Database Development & Programming
Design, develop, and maintain  complex SQL and PL/pgSQL functions, procedures, triggers, and packages  in Postgre

SQL.
Implement advanced data transformations, validations, and business logic within the database layer.
Develop and optimize  views, materialized views , and stored routines for performance and scalability.
Performance Tuning & Optimization
Analyze and optimize complex queries using  EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE .
Tune indexes, partitioning strategies, and query execution plans.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in high-volume transactional and analytical workloads.
Data Modeling & Architecture
Design and maintain  logical and physical data models  for OLTP and analytical use cases.
Implement data normalization and denormalization strategies as appropriate.
Support data warehousing and reporting requirements.
Data Engineering & Integration
Build and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and exporting data.
Integrate Postgre

SQL with upstream and downstream systems via APIs, batch jobs, or streaming solutions.
Ensure data consistency, quality, and integrity across systems.
Security, Reliability & Operations
Implement database security best practices, including roles, privileges, and row-level security.
Support  backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability  configurations.
Participate in production support, incident analysis, and root cause investigations.
Collaboration & Governance
Work closely with application developers, Dev Ops, and analytics teams.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture planning.
Create and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
7+ years  of experience in database development and data engineering.
Strong expertise in  Postgre

SQL  database internals and architecture.
Hands-on experience with  PL/pgSQL  (procedural SQL programming).
Advanced proficiency in  complex SQL queries , joins, window functions, and CTEs.
Strong experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
Data Engineering & Operations

Experience with large datasets and high-throughput systems.
Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, and vacuuming strategies.
Familiarity with replication, failover, and backup solutions in Postgre

SQL.
Nice-to-Have / Preferred Skills
Experience migrating from  Oracle PL/SQL to Postgre

SQL .
Exposure to ETL/ELT tools or data orchestration frameworks.

Experience with cloud-managed Postgre

SQL services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for Postgre

SQL).
Familiarity with scripting languages such as  Python or Shell .
Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
