Role Overview
As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain software systems to support and enhance the Barnum (an enterprise Q&A /knowledge management system) and Power Platforms. This role involves both creative and analytical skills to solve complex problems and create efficient, reliable software. You will use your expertise in requirements analysis, programming languages, software development methodologies, and tools to build and deliver software products that meet the needs of businesses, organizations, or end-users.
You will work with other engineers, product managers and delivery leads, to design systems, determine functional and non-functional needs and implement solutions accordingly. You should be ready to work independently as well as in a team.
What will you do in this role
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.
Implement authentication and authorization (OAuth2, Passport) and integrate with enterprise SSO.
Manage Mongo
DB databases, including schema design, replica sets, data archiving, and scheduled jobs.
Configure and optimize Elasticsearch for search relevance and redundancy reduction.
Develop responsive user interfaces with React; migrate and refactor legacy Angular code.
Deploy, monitor, and scale applications on AWS and Azure; manage load balancing and high availability.
Secure APIs, manage access controls, and integrate with enterprise search and AI systems.
Build and maintain notification systems (immediate, daily, weekly digests) and source-level customizations.
Enable Power Platform capabilities for the company
Follow Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and change management processes through implementation, including preparing all mandatory documentation.
Participate in designing, planning, building, and operating low-code/no-code and gen AI capabilities
Help define best practices and guidelines for low-code/no-code and automation capability in the company, acting as a subject matter expert for interactions with customers and other IT functions. Identify capability gaps in those areas and design solutions to address them.
Contribute to platform roadmaps and future state capabilities.
Capture, structure, and harvest meaningful user activity and session metrics for Power BI consumption, enabling actionable insights and data-driven decision-making.
Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor moderately complex applications and software configurations for deployment in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams across various regions worldwide.
Design test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting test outcomes. Participate in requirement, design and specification reviews. Perform manual and automation testing.
Elicit requirements for systems and software life cycle working practices and automation. Prepare design options for the working environment of methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and people. Utilize systems and software life cycle working practices for software components and micro-services. Deploy automation to achieve well-engineered and secure outcome.
