Role Overview
We are seeking a Platform Engineer - AI Platforms to join our Platform Engineering team within the Digital Foundation division under the Organization. In this critical technical leadership role, you will spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of our internal platform products, supporting advanced AI and automation initiatives across our global organization.
Our Platform Engineering team empowers upstream contributors (developers, data scientists, analysts) and downstream teams (Site Reliability Engineers, Operations) by delivering robust, scalable, and secure cloud-native platforms and tooling. You'll lead architectural decisions and hands-on engineering of cloud infrastructure and backend services, supporting platforms that leverage state-of-the-art Generative AI technologies (LLMs, RAG, AI Agents). This is a strategic opportunity to apply your extensive technical expertise and leadership skills, significantly impacting innovation acceleration within the pharmaceutical industry.
What will you do in this role
Develop and maintain backend software components for internal platform products, ensuring high performance and code quality.
Design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS (with some services on Azure) to support platform needs lize Infrastructure-as-Code tools (primarily Terraform using HCL) to provision and manage cloud resources in a repeatable manner.
Build and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub Actions and Argo CD for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of platform services.
Work with AI and GenAI platforms, assisting in deploying and integrating large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) components, and AI agents into the platform ecosystem.
Containerize applications and microservices using Docker and deploy/manage them on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) for high availability and scalability.
Develop and maintain configuration scripts and templates (YAML, Helm charts) to automate deployments and environment setups on Kubernetes and other infrastructure.
Collaborate closely with developers, Project Managers, SREs, and day-to-day operations teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure the platform's reliability, performance, and overall usability meet user needs.
What should you have
5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering or a similar role.
Strong hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services and architecture (compute, storage, networking, etc.), including deploying and operating workloads on AWS.
Experience with containerization and orchestration - specifically Docker and Kubernetes (especially Amazon EKS) - and proficiency working in Linux-based environments.
