About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled UX Engineer with deep expertise in the Service Now Now Platform to design and build modern, intuitive, and scalable user experiences. This role is ideal for a front-end engineering professional who can build UX solutions natively on the Now Platform rather than relying solely on traditional web development skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong platform knowledge and hands-on experience with UI Builder, Service Portal, Lit.js,
and Service Now Workspace technologies. This is a lead-level role requiring end-to-end ownership of user experience development, from design implementation to platform integration. Strong Now Platform fundamentals are non-negotiable. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to build, customize, and optimize user experiences directly within the Service Now ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
Build work spaces, portals, and UX flows natively using UI Builder and Service Portal.
Develop reusable Lit.js web components for workspace and portal use cases.
Build and maintain Seismic Portal integrations and branded experiences.
Connect UI components to Now Platform data sources, Glide APIs, REST APIs, and real-time events.
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and UX designers to translate wireframes into production-ready interfaces.
Optimize UI performance, responsiveness, and accessibility (WCAG compliance).
Contribute to design system standards and reusable component libraries.
Support Configurable Workspace, Agent Workspace, Employee Center Pro, and other Service Now digital experiences.
Participate in architecture and design discussions to establish UX best practices.
Mentor team members and drive frontend engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
8+ years of frontend engineering experience.
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience building UX solutions directly on the Service Now Now Platform.
Strong understanding of Now Platform fundamentals, including Data models, tables, and relationships, Glide APIs, REST APIs, Platform data sources, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions
Hands-on experience with: UI Builder (Now Experience), Service Portal, Workspace Builder, Configurable Workspace, Agent Workspace, Employee Center Pro
Strong proficiency in Lit.js, Web Components, JavaScript (ES6+), Type Script, HTML5, CSS3 / SASS, Angular / Angular
JS, React Components
Experience working with Data Resources, portal development, and API integrations.
Ability to build UX solutions end-to-end on the Service Now platform and not limited to styling or design implementation.
Experience interpreting and implementing Figma designs.
Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and component-based architecture.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Required.
Certified Application Developer (CAD) – Preferred.
Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – Preferred.
Experience with Seismic Portal implementation, customization, and integration with Service Now data layers.
Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
Experience building enterprise design systems and reusable component libraries.
Portfolio showcasing Service Now work spaces, portals, and custom UX implementations.
Prior experience leading frontend engineering initiatives and mentoring teams.
