Consultant – Naval Domain Expert

Success in this role means the application is tested thoroughly, gaps are clearly identified, and feedback is delivered in a structured way that helps the product and engineering teams improve the solution for real-world naval use.
This is a 3-month contract with an immediate start. Retired Indian Navy officers at Lt Cdr level or equivalent or above are preferred. Serving or currently employed defence/government professionals should apply only if they are eligible and can obtain required approval/NOC.
Responsibilities Independently test the application from a naval user and operational workflow perspective.
Review application responses for accuracy, relevance, clarity, and practical usefulness.
Validate how well the system retrieves and presents information from manuals, reports, documents, tables, diagrams, and related knowledge sources.
Identify gaps, incorrect outputs, unclear responses, usability issues, and improvement areas.
Provide structured feedback reports, observations, and recommendations to the product team.
Support user acceptance testing by documenting issues and validating improvements.
Advise the team on naval documentation practices, equipment-related workflows, and end-user expectations.
Coordinate with product and engineering teams to explain expected application behavior and practical use cases.
Qualifications Retired Indian Navy officer at Lt Cdr level or above , or equivalent naval experience, preferred.
Strong experience in naval operations, ship systems, equipment documentation, maintenance practices, trials, training, inspections, or operational support.
Good understanding of naval documentation, including drafts, policies, orders, letters, faxes, reports, SOPs, manuals, statements of work, RFPs, financial notings, and case documents .
Ability to review, verify, and interpret naval documents for accuracy, relevance, completeness, and practical usability.
Experience in assessing technical and operational information from equipment manuals, diagrams, tables, charts, flow diagrams, and system-related records.
Familiarity with naval sensor, surveillance, or imagery-based information such as ISAR images, EO/IR imagery, operational images, and video-based records would be an added advantage.
Ability to independently test an application from a naval user’s perspective and identify gaps, incorrect outputs, unclear responses, and improvement areas.
Capability to provide structured, practical, and actionable feedback to product and engineering teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain naval context clearly to technical and non-technical teams.
Comfortable using computer-based applications, digital document systems, and basic testing/reporting tools.
Bengaluru-based candidates preferred.
Availability to start immediately.

Duration: 3 months
Compensation: ₹60,000 per month
Engagement: Temporary contract, part-time or full-time based on availability and eligibility
