We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Azure SQL and cloud database services . The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of both on-premise and cloud-based SQL Server environments. You will play a key role in migrating databases to Azure , optimizing performance , and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer, maintain, and support SQL Server 2016–2022 and Azure SQL Database environments.
Design and implement high availability , disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies using Always On, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Azure-native solutions.
Plan and execute SQL Server migrations to Azure , including assessments, testing, and validation.
Monitor and optimize system performance using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, and Azure Monitor.
Implement and maintain security policies , including role-based access, encryption, auditing, and compliance with data governance standards.
Automate routine tasks using Power Shell , T-SQL , and Azure Automation .
Manage backup strategies using native tools and third-party solutions in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Collaborate with Dev Ops, Application, and Infrastructure teams to deliver efficient database solutions.
Provide 24/7 support for production databases on a rotation basis, including performance tuning and incident resolution.
Document database architecture, procedures, and environment changes.
Qualifications:
Required:
3+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
2+ years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL , Managed Instances , or SQL Database on Azure VMs .
Strong understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing strategies.
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) , Integration Services (SSIS) , or Azure Data Factory (ADF) .
Deep understanding of SQL Server internals and performance tuning techniques .
Experience with monitoring tools such as Redgate, Solar Winds, or native Azure monitoring.
Proficiency in Power Shell scripting and automation for database maintenance.
Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management .
