Role Summary
We are looking for a Duck Creek Technical SME with strong hands-on experience in the Duck Creek platform, technical configuration, APIs, integrations and application architecture.
The candidate should be capable of understanding the technical architecture of Duck Creek, analyzing complex integration issues, troubleshooting application and interface failures, and providing technical direction to development, configuration, testing and production-support teams.
The role requires strong knowledge of Duck Creek system internals, APIs, integrations, data flows, batch processing and technical configuration .
Key Responsibilities
Duck Creek Technical Expertise
Provide technical SME support for Duck Creek applications.
Understand Duck Creek architecture and application components.
Analyze technical requirements and translate them into Duck Creek technical solutions.
Review technical designs and solution approaches.
Provide technical guidance to developers and configuration teams.
Assess technical impacts of Duck Creek changes.
Troubleshoot complex application issues.
Support technical design, implementation and deployment activities.
APIs & Integrations
Strong understanding of Duck Creek APIs and integration patterns .
Responsibilities include:
Analyze inbound and outbound integrations.
Understand REST/SOAP/View modal APIs and service interfaces.
Analyze request/response payloads.
Validate API contracts and data mappings.
Troubleshoot API failures.
Analyze HTTP errors and integration failures.
Validate authentication/authorization issues.
Understand synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
Analyze data flowing between Duck Creek and external systems.
Typical integrations may include:
CRM
Rating engines
Document generation
Payment systems
Customer portals
Agent/broker portals
Data warehouses
Enterprise services
Third-party vendor systems
Billing systems
Claims systems
Notification/email systems
Integration Troubleshooting
The SME should be able to trace an issue such as:
User → Duck Creek UI → Workflow → API → External System → Response → Duck Creek → Policy Transaction
and identify where the failure occurred.
Responsibilities include:
Review application logs.
Analyze API logs.
Review request/response payloads.
Identify integration failures.
Perform technical root-cause analysis.
Coordinate with external application teams.
Determine whether the issue is:
Duck Creek configuration
Application code
API
Authentication
Data mapping
External system
Batch processing
Infrastructure/environment
Batch Processing
Understand Duck Creek batch architecture and processing.
Analyze batch job dependencies.
Review batch execution logs.
Troubleshoot failed or partially completed jobs.
Understand scheduling and sequencing.
Analyze batch input/output.
Identify downstream impacts.
Support production batch incidents.
Coordinate with application support and infrastructure teams.
Duck Creek Configuration / Technical Changes
Understand Duck Creek configuration and customization.
Review configuration changes from a technical perspective.
Analyze impacts of changes across products and transactions.
Support product/model configuration teams.
Review technical implementation approaches.
Identify configuration conflicts and dependencies.
Support deployment and release activities.
Data & Database
Understand Duck Creek data structures and data flow.
Perform backend data validation.
Use SQL for troubleshooting and data analysis.
Validate data transformations between systems.
Analyze data inconsistencies.
Trace business transactions across systems.
Support data-related production issues.
Production Support
Act as the technical escalation point for complex Duck Creek issues.
Participate in incident triage.
Analyze production failures.
Perform technical root-cause analysis.
Coordinate with infrastructure, middleware, integration and external application teams.
Provide workarounds and permanent fixes.
Support problem management and RCA activities.
Identify recurring technical issues and recommend preventive solutions.
Technical Design & Governance
Review solution designs.
Conduct technical design reviews.
Identify integration and architectural dependencies.
Assess technical risks.
