ResponsibilitiesTo increase membership in the Mountain West Council of the Boy Scouts of America. To engage and recruit parents as leaders and to build packs and troops in all communities with emphasis on efforts to increase diversity representation in membership, targeting underserved populations. This position may require a time commitment of up to 20 hours per week in the field, based on the schools and areas served.
VisionScouting America’s vision is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Help youth achieve rank-based adventures and work on life skills by following the prescribed lesson plans as defined by the Scouting program for youth aged between 5 to 18.
- Serve as an ambassador of the Scouting Program, always striving to deliver the mission of the program.
- Increase the program quality through retention of youth, advancement, service, and youth participation.
- Build and work with a volunteer committee to grow the local scouting program and improve its quality.
- Recruit and support volunteers to assist with meetings and activities.
- Be Community Focused.
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- Must be registered as an adult leader, submit a Scouting America Application, complete Youth Protection Training, and pass a Criminal Background Check.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Own reliable transportation.
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences. Excellent people skills, enthusiastic, punctual, responsible, and creative.
- Enjoys working with youth 5 to 18.
- Self‑motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Committed to personal and professional productivity while maintaining high ethical and professional work standards.
All councils are equal opportunity employers and offer a competitive salary, based on the council’s geographic location. This is a Part‑Time position with a starting hourly rate between $18 to $20 based on experience.
