Job Summary
Provides instruction and training to students in the Health Physics Technologies Program in accordance with Department of Energy and industry standards. Manages the academic program in accordance with College of Eastern Idaho policies. This temporary full‑time position will commence on the date of hire and conclude on May 15, with salary and benefits prorated to reflect the actual employment period.
Typical Job Functions- Provides instruction to students in the Health Physics Technologies Program and develops related instructional materials (such as syllabi, lectures, course materials, assessment tools, classroom activities, and laboratory exercises).
- Coordinates with department leadership to meet expected program outcomes.
- Participates in statewide, college‑level, and program‑level planning and curriculum development.
- Organizes and manages a technical advisory committee to include recommending members for committee appointments, holding meetings at least biannually, and implementing recommendations.
- Serves as a student advisor.
- Inventories and purchases supplies.
- Maintains equipment and plans for future equipment needs.
- Participates in recruiting for the program.
- Facilitates student transition into the workforce.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with community stakeholders.
- Participates in college‑wide accreditation tasks.
- Provides leadership within the College and community to promote the College mission.
- Participates in campus committees.
- Completes required training.
- Understands and complies with College policies.
- Maintains consistent office hours.
- Attends in‑service meetings each semester.
- Attends graduation ceremonies.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in Radiation Safety or Health Physics.
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience as a radiological control technician (RCT).
- Currently qualified as a Department of Energy Radiological Control Technician.
- 1 year experience as an instructor for the Department of Energy (DOE) or an academic institution.
- Incumbents must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI does not sponsor H‑1B Visas).
- NRRPT (national registry for radiological protection) or CHP (Certified Health Physicist) certification.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher post‑secondary degree.
- 3–5 years instructional experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
Delivering course instruction includes the ability to lift files or instructional materials, open filing cabinets, and bend, sit, or stand as necessary. Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but may experience occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. On‑site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required.
Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225:
