Job Summary
The plumbing apprentice instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction to students in the College of Eastern Idaho’s apprenticeship program. Classes are held either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm (6 hours per week). Instructors may be assigned additional hours for class preparation and administration as needed. The instructor will teach both the theory and practical applications of plumbing systems, as well as plumbing code.
Depending on qualifications, instructors may also be assigned to teach continuing education classes on a semi-annual basis.
Typical Job Functions- Provide instruction to plumbing apprentices both in-person and online
- Develop curriculum, lesson plans and assessments to supplement those provided by the program manager and fellow instructors
- Record student grades and attendance for reporting to both the program manager and State of Idaho Division of Building Safety
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- State of Idaho Journeyman Plumbing License
- Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with both students and CEI staff members
- Dependable and organized
- Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn’t sponsor H-1B Visas)
- Current or retired Plumber or Plumbing Inspector
- 3+ years of experience as a Journeyman plumber
- Teaching experience
- Proficiency with computers, particularly Outlook, Excel, video conferencing software (Zoom, Teams, etc.) and learning management software such as Schoology or Canvas
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
Background InvestigationsEmployment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225:
