Job SummaryJacobs is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to work on projects across the United States. You will play a key role in the entire design process for data center buildings, including structured cabling systems, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems. The position offers the opportunity to mentor team members and potentially lead projects, driving technical design leadership while collaborating closely with clients in the Data Center market.
Responsibilities- Lead BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings.
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
- Mentor other team members.
- Work with the lead engineer and/or department manager to identify process improvements for departmental efficiency.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
- Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 as it applies to telecommunications structured cabling.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with multiple disciplines, project managers and clients.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Experience with RFP responses.
- Experience in Quality Assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others.
- Experience with start‑up, commissioning and ensuring proper operation of telecom systems.
- Experience creating and maintaining project budgets and schedules.
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
- PE license required; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is a plus.
- 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers.
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems such as security, audio/visual, and wireless.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms.
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems.
- Proficiency with CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
- Credential as an RCDD.
