Reviews medical records after discharge for completeness in compliance with the hospital’s bylaws, federal and state requirements. Assures that patient abstracts are correctly entered into the chart deficiency system. Monitors accounts being admitted daily for duplication of medical record numbers, and checks patient discharge status when assembling charts. Ensures all transcribed reports are filed in a timely manner. Communicates with physicians about delinquent reports.
Is accountable for accurate transcription of dictated reports and for completing incomplete medical records within the timeframe specified by medical staff rules and regulations.

Qualifications- Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience: One to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Equipment/Technology: Ability to use the hospital information system and operate basic computer functions and software.
- Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
