Position: Senior Intelligent Automation Developer

Overview

Senior Intelligent Automation Developer to work on Idaho National Laboratory’s Automation Team. The role follows a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off and may offer remote or hybrid work as available. The position requires strong customer‑facing skills, AI expertise, and solution design experience to deliver scalable, efficient process automation solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Apply intelligent automation principles, theories, and concepts to complex analytical processes.
  • Plan, develop and implement automation‑engineering solutions using Power Automate, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, or UiPath.
  • Review source code, documentation, reports, and other technical artifacts.
  • Deploy automation components including bots, agents, development tools, code repositories, and scripts.
  • Monitor and adjust deployed automation solutions for optimal efficiency; support existing RPA, agentic AI, and Power App solutions when issues arise.
  • Support project plans, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates.
  • Mentor junior Intelligent Automation Developers.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, security standards, and INL safety, security, environmental, health, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Remain current on agentic AI and process automation technology and best practices.
  • Define strategic direction in assigned areas.
Minimum Requirements
  • Level 3:
    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and 5 years in IT; or Master’s degree and 2 years in IT; or 11 years IT experience in lieu of degree.
  • Level 4:
    Bachelor’s degree and 9 years in IT; or Master’s degree and 6 years in IT; or 15 years IT experience in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 2+ years in RPA development (Power Automate, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, or UiPath).
  • 1+ year building agentic AI solutions and integrating AI into RPA solutions.
  • Experience with reusable code libraries, code reviews, production automations.
  • Experience interacting with non‑technical partners.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET, Python, or other relevant languages.
  • Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance; US citizenship required.
Ideal Candidate
  • 4+ years in RPA development (Power Automate, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, or UiPath).
Job Information
  • Pay range:
    Level 3 ($95,256 - $195,288) / Level 4 ($114,360 - $234,336).
  • TDP: testing designated position; requires pre‑employment drug screen and periodic testing.
  • Multi‑Level: placement at appropriate level based on experience and skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard, and type, reach with hands and arms, operate job‑related equipment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform essential functions and interact with the public required.
