We are looking for an outstanding Associate General Counsel to join our Idaho Falls, Idaho team.
Job SummaryAs Associate General Counsel you will provide legal counsel to key leadership in privacy, litigation, and transactional matters. You will proactively engage with business clients to align legal advice with strategic objectives, collaborate with internal partners, work independently on high‑impact matters, and supervise one other attorney.
Key expectations include:- Providing clear, practical privacy advice that enables enterprise‑wide business strategies.
- Developing collaborative relationships with teams and stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Partnering with senior leaders inside and outside the Legal Department to become a trusted advisor.
- Identifying and leading emerging risks stemming from business activities.
- Ensuring business risks are identified, measured, supervised, and controlled.
- Following written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Independently advising senior leadership on regulatory, compliance, and litigation risk.
- Leading sophisticated legal assignments with significant business impact.
- Communicating effectively with partners and leadership at all levels.
- Producing clear legal positions on highly complex issues.
- Analyzing changes in laws, regulations, and industry to advise leadership in a timely manner.
- Anticipating future legal and operational issues that pose risks and engaging others to find solutions.
- Providing leadership through cross‑functional projects that materially impact the company.
- Effectively managing outside counsel to obtain legal advice.
- Coordinating with the General Counsel on periodic reporting, budgets, forecasts, exposure analysis, strategy evaluation, and audit coordination.
- Drafting and negotiating contracts to memorialize deals.
- Ability to relocate to Idaho Falls, work in‑person five days a week (relocation assistance provided).
- 6+ years of experience as a lawyer at a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department.
- Excellent time management, analytical, and advising skills.
- Ability to summarize recommendations and tailor communication to the audience.
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
- Capability to provide practical, business‑focused legal advice on contractual, regulatory, and corporate matters.
- Ability to identify and assess legal risks, propose mitigation strategies, and support cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with emerging technology and e‑commerce (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of privacy laws and experience advising on privacy risk (preferred but not required).
