Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, is seeking independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; effective time management and meeting deadlines are essential.

These inspections are typically exterior only; approximately 10% require interior photos after vacancy.

• Complete most inspections in 5-6 minutes.
• Finish inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy using industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in a mobile app.
• Drive extended periods, making multiple stops during the day within assigned territory.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (you pay own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume, but are equivalent to $30-$40 per hour. Depending on county and urban/rural status, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. No set minimum; lower volume counties offer higher rates.

No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
