Position Overview
The BWSR project is seeking a Radiological Controls Instructor for a position on the INL. The emphasis in this position is on being an outstanding teacher and mentor for employees. As a Radiological Controls Instructor, you provide the introduction to radiological work to many personnel new to the nuclear industry, so being a mentor to these individuals is vitally important.
Location:
On-site at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) in Idaho
Your Day To Day As a Radiological Controls Trainer
- The candidate will have developed proficiency in a range of analytical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
- With limited degree of supervision, works within defined processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
- Likely to act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. The instructor will perform a variety of duties related to the training and development of workers.
- Provide training to people unfamiliar with radiological work.
- Conduct training events for personnel in the area of radiological controls.
- Develop lesson plans and practical examinations.
- Provide training lectures and practical examinations.
- Plan, execute and grade casualty drills.
- Maintain training records.
- Provide workplace monitoring of radiological work.
- Develop training schedules.
- This position requires the ability to communicate and coordinate with personnel from multiple departments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum A.S. degree in technical field + 8 years of experience, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- The ability to teach math up to an algebra level is required.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain radiological controls qualifications. Attaining initial radiological controls qualifications requires the candidate to successfully complete the Radiological Controls Technician Qualification School. This will require a temporary assignment to Norfolk, Virginia.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) “L” security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the Naval Nuclear Program is preferred, but training in radiological controls will be provided.
