This is a full-time position with full employee benefits.

Responsibilities

The 4-H Youth Development Coordinator role can follow one of two tracts: a Club Program Coordinator or a Community Program Coordinator
. Although similar in many regards, there are distinctions between the two specialties.

Club Program Coordinator
  • Serve as the primary contact for all 4-H Youth Development Club adults and youth, ensuring the successful operation and compliance of all club activities.
  • Oversee the design, teaching, delivery, and evaluation of all 4-H club programming.
  • Recruit, train, and support certified 4-H volunteer club leaders.
  • Monitor club compliance with UI Extension and national 4-H policies; maintain accurate member enrollment and project data using Z-Suites, Fair Entry, and related systems.
  • Organize and manage county-wide club events (record book judging, oral presentations, livestock activities such as weigh-ins, field days, shows, air project judging, ribbon/award coordination).
  • Act as lead liaison with the Fair Board and Buildings & Grounds for club-related fair activities.
  • Support financial compliance by auditing club and Leaders Council accounts and assisting with nonprofit filings.
  • Partner with the 4-H Community Program Coordinator on county-wide celebrations and youth recognition events.
Community Program Coordinator
  • Plan, teach, deliver, and evaluate flexible youth programming across the county, including in-school enrichment lessons, after-school programs, day camps, workshops, project-in-a-day events, and summer and winter programs.
  • Ensure program fidelity by maintaining group enrollment reporting requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations, libraries, schools, and civic groups to expand program reach.
  • Recruit, train, and support certified 4-H non-club volunteer leaders.
  • Play a critical role in strategic initiatives, including developing a Workforce Development program in alignment with partners, specifically utilizing the 4-H Beyond Ready initiative.
  • Collaborate with the Club Program Coordinator on county-wide celebrations and youth recognition events.
Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with established experience in youth development, education, agriculture, family and consumer sciences, or a related field, specifically possessing a proven background delivering youth programming in group settings and having knowledge of 4-H and related programs and curricula.

The ideal candidate will have strong volunteer recruitment and support skills alongside effective communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. You must be able to engage with a broad stakeholder audience and build collaborative relationships.

Operationally, the role requires the ability to work independently and exercise initiative, possessing intermediate computer skills for data management, reporting, outreach, and social media platforms.
