Overview
Brown and Caldwell has an immediate opening for a Sr Associate Environmental Engineer or Civil Engineer to grow our Permitting and Compliance team based in Boise, Idaho. We seek a motivated individual actively engaged in environmental engineering to advance our relationship with strategic clients (private sector and municipal) through multi-media permitting and operational compliance, primarily in Idaho. You will work with nationally recognized, senior technical staff and have the opportunity to supervise junior staff.
Occasional travel may be required.
- Lead and deliver environmental permitting and compliance projects with a focus on multi-media permitting, stormwater management, spill prevention, and operational regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the technical lead for Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance, including SPCC inspections, evaluations, and developing compliance plans.
- Develop Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and Notices of Intent (NOIs) for regulatory submissions.
- Lead multi-media permitting plans for new construction and facility expansions.
- Lead stormwater permitting and regulatory compliance efforts, including Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and NPDES MS4 permitting compliance.
- Develop drinking water Facility Plans, Preliminary Engineering Reports, and limited system design as part of a team.
- Assist in developing and writing stormwater standards and guide clients through green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) strategies for sustainable, long-term solutions.
- Lead client and internal meetings to track project progress, discuss next steps, and ensure alignment with client expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare written reports and technical memorandums to document analyses, findings, and recommendations for client projects.
- Delegate and oversee the work of junior technical staff and engineers, ensuring project milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
- Collaborate on business development efforts, position the firm for new opportunities, pursue potential clients, and manage ongoing client relationships.
- Support a wide variety of environmental compliance and permitting tasks, including site investigations, environmental assessments, and permitting applications.
- BS Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related field) required; MS degree preferred.
- A minimum of 8–10 years of directly applicable experience.
- PE certification required in the state of Idaho or ability to receive reciprocity.
- Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations.
- Excellent technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas visually and contextually.
- Ability to work well independently and in team environments.
- Ability to collaborate with BC’s local, regional, and national Compliance and Permitting practitioners.
- Highly responsive, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.
- Positive, can-do attitude; flexible and self-motivated.
- Ability to work in a virtual environment across multiple company teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, report writing, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; MS Project is a plus.
- Capable of producing high-quality products on schedule and within budgets.
- Ability to pursue, win, and execute work in a team setting.
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on location and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education. Location A: $106,000 – $145,000.
