POSITION SUMMARY:The Certified Nurse’s Assistant is responsible for delivering basic care to patients in a safe and timely manner based on the Policies and Philosophies of the facility. He/she will be supervised in all aspects of that care.
EssentialJob Duties /Requirements
- Assesses patient’s physical and emotional needs.
- Follows the care plan developed by the RN.
- Obtains and records vital signs, weight, Accu-checks, and intake/output.
- Transfers patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, chairs, stretchers, examination tables, commodes, scales, lifts, and the floor, either assisted or unassisted.
- Repositions patients in beds, wheelchairs, chairs, stretchers, examination tables, and other equipment.
- Provides a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients.
- Reports all necessary or abnormal patient information to the charge nurse and/or physician, following instructions from licensed staff.
- Participates in code situations as directed by the charge nurse.
- Prioritizes issues during the shift and addresses them accordingly.
- Documents questions or concerns regarding patient care with supporting details to the charge nurse and/or physician.
- Maintains a respectful and courteous attitude towards patients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Always respects patient rights and maintains confidentiality.
- Follows facility policies, including annual reviews and current BLS certification.
- Maintains required education credits and adheres to uniform and hygiene standards.
- Reacts appropriately in emergencies or disasters, following proper policies and procedures.
- Wears PPE as required to uphold infection control standards.
Job Duties /Requirements
- Documents relevant patient information in nurse’s notes.
- Assists in other areas as needed.
- Stocks supplies and maintains equipment cleanliness.
- Attends at least 50% of staff meetings.
- Other delegated duties as assigned.
- Current Idaho CNA certification (or enrolled in CNA program).
- Current BLS certification (may be obtained upon hire).
- High school diploma or GED, or minimum 1 year CNA experience.
- Previous work experience preferred for attendance and performance verification.
- Proficient in keyboarding at 20 WPM, familiar with Outlook and Microsoft Word; experience with Electronic Medical Records is helpful.
