RequirementsThe Quality Specialist/Patient Advocate will actively partner with the Chief Quality/Risk Officer to support and facilitate ongoing organization‑wide improvement of quality through data gather/review, project management, initiative support, and process improvement. This position will coach and mentor individuals and teams on improvement methods, system thinking, change management, group dynamics, and planning methods.
Quality staff will act as consultants to the department directors in all aspects of Quality data reporting, improvement plans and defining appropriate tools, methodologies and metrics needed to improve efficiencies of healthcare operations, patient safety and clinical/business office processes assuring that the organization’s focus aligns with the standards that DNV‑GL and CMS focus on.
Duties- Support quality improvement initiatives through data monitoring
- Intake & close patient grievances utilizing organizational tools and appropriate department directors during the process
- Assist in the implementation of Quality Tracking Tool/Quality and Performance Improvement tool
- Assist in and/or lead in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data for ongoing quality management activities of the organization as assigned
- Assist in and/or lead in DNV preparation and response to surveys
- Build knowledge based on data from electronic health records (EHR) for purpose of meeting core program requirements for monitoring (e.q. quality measures) using appropriate reporting tools
- Participate in the education of department directors in meeting core program requirements for monitoring accurate, complete & timely data and reports as scheduled or requested for Quality counsel and board meetings
- Work with directors to prepare Monthly Quality Meeting Presentations
- Function as a resource to directors in the analysis, interpretation, and use of data for decision‑making and performance improvement
- Demonstrate understanding of department leader roles, facilitator, and other PI team participants
- Support the billing office staff through preparation of mandated ongoing performance measures data
- Utilize internal and external comparative data sources to identify improvement opportunities
- Support the ongoing development and review of billing practice policies, procedures, protocols, and forms in accordance with regulatory standards requirements
- Learn and maintain Press Ganey reporting and update Excel spreadsheet form to send to directors in their respective departments
- Provide suggestions regarding quality improvement opportunities to the Chief Quality/Risk Officer
- HHS Reporting to Juvare and HHS Document daily update
- Present Action Cue at Monthly New Employee Orientation
- Demonstrate awareness of the importance of cost containment for the department
- Participate in other Steele Memorial Medical Center meetings and committees as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Active RN license or other clinical credentials (e.g. LPN, RT, PT/OT) with relevant experience
- 2-4 years clinical experience in a hospital or health‑system setting
- Experience with quality improvement, patient experience, or patient advocacy preferred
- Experience with Press Ganey, or similar patient‑experience platform preferred
- Prior work in quality, risk, or performance improvement preferred
- Familiarity with CMS, DNV, and grievance regulations preferred
