Kiln Forklift Operator - Swing (Laclede) (Manufacturing)
The Kiln Operator is responsible for the operation of the kilns used in manufacturing processes. They also assist in the maintenance of the kilns. They are responsible for ensuring that kilns reach the appropriate temperatures and lumber meets the required moisture targets while maintaining quality control over the materials being processed.
Wage DOE $26.10 - $30.32
DUTIES:- Startup of kiln and boiler systems.
- Set up and operate kilns to accommodate new products.
- Set up system to track drying performance and schedule efficiency.
- Assist at the boiler as needed.
- Load and unload dry kilns in accordance with IFG quality standards.
- Ensure that moisture content meets ALS standards for kiln-dried lumber.
- Change kilns as required.
- Follow procedures of spotter when loading/unloading kilns.
- Fill out daily operator's report.
- Program and monitor computers.
- Clean up dry and green yards.
- Maintain kiln carts.
- Use roof caps as needed.
- Abide by all IFG yarding, forklift, and quality policies.
- Train kiln and forklift operators.
- Shovel and/or plow snow and sand as needed.
- Other assigned tasks or duties as directed by supervisor.
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to work with minimal instruction
- Willing to work overtime and holidays as needed
- Knowledge of kiln control usage and application, allowing drying schedule set-up and system adjustment to meet new product requirements
