Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a minimum of 2 years PACU or strong inpatient recovery experience, Idaho or compact RN license, and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

• Work in a 14-bed PACU within an acute care hospital setting
• Unit includes 3 PACU bays and 11 interchangeable bays for pre-op, same day discharge, and endoscopy
• Patients include adults and pediatric orthopedic, sports medicine, trauma, general surgery, gyn, c-sections, endoscopy, plus occasional plastics and neuro/spinal cases
• RNs are expected to care for pre-op, PACU (Phase 1 and
  2), pre-Endo, and post-Endo areas
• Nurse to patient ratios follow ASPAN guidelines
• Epic EMR is used; prior Epic experience is preferred but not required
• Daily shifts are 8 or 10 hours, with start times between 6-8 am, and primarily day shifts
• Travelers are assigned a preceptor for 3-5 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• No self-scheduling; start times and shift lengths assigned by unit
• Night and weekend call required, typically 5-6 nights/call shifts per month, with a 30-minute response time when on call
• If assigned call during holidays within contract, traveler will be expected to cover holiday call
• RNs assist with room turnovers and shares daily chores with nursing assistants
• Scrubs are provided as part of the dress code
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before taking a travel assignment

• Active  compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are mandatory
• Minimum 2 years PACU experience required; applicants with substantial inpatient recovery experience and 1 year PACU may be considered
• Must have Phase 1 recovery experience
• Ability to read cardiac strips
• Driver’s license must be provided for consideration
• Applicants must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
