The Winter Group Sales Manager is responsible for promoting Sun Valley Resort by cultivating strong client relationships, securing group room nights, and meeting revenue goals. This position combines strategic sales outreach, on-site hosting, and cross-departmental coordination to secure group room nights and deliver exceptional experiences for visiting groups. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Promote awareness to wholesalers, tour operators, corporate, incentive, and association markets via travel, to respective regions in the country providing presentations and personal sales calls.
- Conduct property tours, including mountain tours, for potential group planners and customers; host and entertain clients during site inspections, pre-planning trips, and program operations when appropriate.
- Create and execute direct sales plan specific to market assignment including sales blitzes, as well as planning and participation of FAMS & Discovery Trips.
- Accountable for achieving group room nights and revenue goals as well as individual booking pace goals.
- Prospect and track new business accounts with a strong focus on growth opportunities.
- Develop new and existing accounts by mapping specific business patterns and buying tendencies.
- Serve as a liaison between group sales and key departments (Conference Services, Operations, and other internal teams) to ensure all group needs are met and executed according to client expectations.
- Coordinate all sales activities under the direction of the Director of Sales; negotiate contract specifics to maximize profitability while meeting customer needs.
- Maintain professionalism in all sales interactions while upholding Sun Valley Resort standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
College degree in business, hospitality, or related field preferred.
Previous sales experience at a seasonal luxury resort or ski resort preferred.
- Must be an intermediate, or above, skier or snowboarder and willing to work in variable conditions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with or ability to learn OPERA or Delphi.
- Ability to adapt to policy, procedures, or work environment changes easily and willingly.
- Knowledge of local and regional competition is helpful.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching.
- Capable of safely lifting and/or moving up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Able to remain focused in an office environment for extended periods of time.
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
