Boyds J and C Construction is hiring a skilled Underground Utility Pipe Layer to join our civil construction team. This role involves the hands‑on installation of stormwater, water, and sewer piping systems. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in utility trenching and pipe laying and must be familiar with grade setting and trench safety protocols. Key Responsibilities- Install storm drain, sewer, and water lines according to project plans and specifications
- Set pipe to proper grade using lasers, levels, and trench boxes
- Ensure trench safety and maintain clean, organized job sites
- Assist with digging, grading, and compacting backfill
- Operate or work around heavy equipment safely
- Communicate with foremen and operators to ensure proper installation and alignment
- Follow all company and OSHA safety standards
- Perform additional site labor and tasks as needed
- Minimum 1+ year of experience installing underground utilities (storm, sewer, and water pipe)
- Strong understanding of utility installation practices, trench safety, and grade work
- Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions
- Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions
- Must be reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- Willingness to travel to out-of-town job sites (lodging and job dependent covered cost for out-of-town- project)
Hourly Pay: $23–$27 per hour DOE
