We are advertising fixed‑term Geriatrics and Frailty Senior Clinical Fellow posts with a Special Interest in Medical Education.
These posts are rotational in the Acute Hospital (Queens, Romford) and the Community‑based Ageing Well Centre (St George's Wellbeing Hub, Romford).
The post is based within the COE inpatient teams with the following activity split: 25% on‑call commitment to GIM, 40% COE clinical work (inpatient and specialist clinics), and 35% medical education activities (released from clinical work). The activity split may vary across the year, with greater focus on post‑graduate teaching, project work and clinical duties outside undergraduate term‑time, and increased undergraduate teaching during term‑time.
The role requires internal medicine on‑call at SpR level, rotational experience within inpatient teams, community and clinic settings.
Responsibilities- Coordinate undergraduate teaching within the COE, including bedside teaching, small group activities and other programmes.
- Deliver educational programmes for new starters to the team, such as IMG and trainee doctors, and early postgraduate colleagues (e.g., foundation doctors).
- Participate in Quality Improvement Projects (QIP). Have the opportunity to develop and train in a chosen area of special interest in the COE (suggested areas include falls, delirium and community).
- Full Registration with the GMC
- Full MRCP
- Valid ALS
- Other relevant post‑graduate degrees or diplomas
- Core procedural skills in line with completion of IMT or equivalent.
- Experience in the UK health system.
- At least 2 years experience at ST3+ level in a UK Geriatric Medicine post, including internal medicine on‑calls.
- QIP or audit completion experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritise, communicate effectively and work under pressure.
- Teaching experience or relevant certificate.
