As a specialist education recruiter, I am proud to be supporting an Outstanding secondary school in North East Londonin their search for an inspiring Head of Drama for September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to lead Drama within a school that values the Arts as a central pillar of its curriculum, not an afterthought. The Senior Leadership Team are highly supportive of creative subjects and fully invested in maintaining a rich and ambitious performing arts offer.
The successful candidate will take strategic ownership of Drama across Key Stages 3 to 5, driving both academic outcomes and participation in performance. You will lead curriculum development, direct productions, nurture student talent, and foster a department culture rooted in high expectations and creative excellence. This role would suit an experienced Head of Department or a talented Second in Charge ready to step confidently into leadership.
The school offers excellent facilities, strong uptake at GCSE and A Level, and a student body that embraces performance opportunities. Behaviour is excellent, allowing teachers to focus on craft, creativity, and ambitious rehearsal processes. Leadership development is a genuine priority here, and the appointed Head of Drama will be supported in shaping a long term vision for the department’s growth and profile within the school community.
