We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about working with children, parents, and teachers, to establish a supportive environment in which children can learn and develop.
This is an opportunity to join a friendly and welcoming Redbridge school on a long term-term basis with potential for the role to become permanent for the right individual.
The Role
To support the education and welfare of pupils as directed by class teachers, having due regard to the school’s aims, objectives, schemes of work and policies, and relevant national requirements. In your role you will be working with whole classes, smaller groups and individuals.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Support the delivery of lessons, working with groups or individual pupils as directed.
* Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher to assist in behaviour management and to support pupils in their learning objectives.
* Promote inclusion, encouraging pupils to interact and work collaboratively
* Work with the SENCO and other teachers to assess the needs of individual children, contribute to and implement Individual Education Plans
* Adapt and develop resources for EAL and SEND pupils, ensuring their safety and enabling them to access the curriculum.
* Assist with follow-through for related services such as speech, language and physical therapy.
* Observe, record and feedback information of pupil performance.
* Encourage independence, resilience, and social development.
* Assist with the development of pupils’ reading skills, including listening to pupils read and managing reading resources.
* Help to maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment, including creating and supporting classroom displays.
* Support pupils with ICT and computing tasks.
* Supervise pupils in playgrounds, lunchrooms etc and assist with general pastoral care.
* Communicate with parents regarding the progress and wellbeing of pupils.
* Support the school’s ethos by contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to pupils, parents, staff, and the wider school community
Education, Qualifications and Knowledge
* Maths and English GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above.
* Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification:
Level 2 or Level 3 TA.
* Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child protection in a school environment.
* Knowledge of, or willingness to develop understanding of, effective classroom support strategies.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to deal positively and constructively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
* Competent in the use of IT for classroom support and administrative tasks.
