Start Date: September 2026 (initially until December 2026)
A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in the Chigwell area is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026. The role will initially run until December 2026 and involves supporting students aged 11–18.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified SEN professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for inclusive education to make a positive impact across the school community.
Essential Requirements- Recent experience working as a SENCO within a secondary school setting
- National Award for SEN Co-ordination
- Experience supporting students aged 11–18
- Available to commence the role in September 2026
Reporting directly to the Headteacher, the successful candidate will lead and manage SEND provision across the school, ensuring students receive high-quality support that enables them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership- Lead the development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and funding
- Ensure SEND policies, procedures, and statutory reports remain current and compliant
- Maintain and oversee the SEND register and provision map
- Support staff in delivering the graduated approach to SEND support
- Analyse student progress and assessment data for SEND learners
- Audit and maintain EAA records
- Identify students requiring assessment and approve arrangements
- Liaise with external agencies and attend annual JCQ training
- Identify student needs and coordinate appropriate support
- Lead annual EHCP reviews and multi‑agency meetings
- Support smooth student transitions and promote inclusion throughout school life
- Report regularly to Senior Leadership Team and Governors on SEND provision
- Line manage the Assistant SENCO and Learning Support Assistants
- Deliver staff training and provide specialist SEND guidance
- Work collaboratively with pastoral and safeguarding teams to support student wellbeing
