Assistant Director of Finance (CS Delivery)
Barnardo's are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Assistant Director of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership and business partnering support across our Children's Services directorates. In this influential role, you will work closely with senior leaders to drive informed decision‑making, manage financial performance, and support the delivery of services that improve the lives of children and young people across the UK.
Mainduties of the job
As a key member of the finance leadership team, you will lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and business planning activities, ensuring directors and managers have access to high‑quality financial insight, analysis and modelling. You will also play a pivotal role in supporting bids, tenders and contract pricing, while identifying risks, opportunities and performance improvements across the organisation.
Job responsibilitiesThe Assistant Director of Finance (ADF) role is to provide professional, financial support to directors and managers. They will provide advice, direction and support to Children's Services on financial matters. The Assistant Director of Finance monitors key risks and opportunities and leads efficient collective operational reporting for Children's Services relating to month‑end, budgeting and forecasting, and provides information and liaises with external and internal auditors.
Experience- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop finance teams, including leading and developing managers.
- Significant experience in providing reasoned challenge to senior stakeholders to drive good, data‑led business decisions.
- Demonstrable experience in using financial systems e.g. Dynamics 365.
- Operating at a similar level and providing senior managers with solutions to financial problems, preferably in a large and complex organisation.
- Experience and understanding of the voluntary sector and government funding.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification) with significant post‑qualified experience (ideally 5 years or more).
Salary: £52,265 to £73,927 a year plus Office at Home Allowance £312 per annum.
