Registered Children’s Home Manager | Ilford, East London | Sponsorship Available
Westmont College Limited is recruiting an experienced Ofsted Registered Children’s Home Manager to join its expanding residential care services in East London (Ilford). This is a senior leadership role within children’s residential care, focused on delivering high-quality, safe, and nurturing environments for young people.
The organisation operates within the regulated children’s social care sector and is actively expanding its residential home provision. This role is designed for experienced Registered Managers or Deputy Managers who are ready to take on greater responsibility in leading a children’s home under Ofsted standards. Applicants must have prior experience working in Ofsted-registered children’s homes (excluding 16+ provision) and be able to demonstrate strong leadership, compliance, and safeguarding knowledge.
This opportunity also includes a structured progression pathway. Candidates may initially join as a Deputy Manager within an existing service while a new home is being registered (6–18 months process). During this period, the role provides hands-on leadership experience, administrative responsibility, and operational involvement. Once registration is complete, the role progresses into a full Registered Manager position with increased salary and performance-based incentives.
The role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about improving outcomes for young people in care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading multidisciplinary teams in a high-impact environment.
As an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the daily operations of a children’s residential home in line with Ofsted regulations
- Ensuring safeguarding policies and child protection procedures are strictly followed
- Managing and supervising residential care staff, including rota planning and performance oversight
- Providing high-quality care planning and emotional support frameworks for young people
- Overseeing compliance with Ofsted standards and preparing for inspections
- Maintaining accurate records, reports, and care documentation
- Working closely with social workers, local authorities, and external professionals
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and therapeutic care approaches
- Participating in on-call responsibilities and senior leadership rota systems
- Contributing to the development and registration of new children’s homes
- Minimum 1 year full-time experience as Deputy Manager in an Ofsted-registered children’s home
- Experience in residential childcare (not 16+ supported living provision)
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding frameworks
- Ability to provide URN (Unique Reference Number) of previous children’s home experience
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and organisational abilities
- Ability to work onsite in East London on a structured rota
- Commitment to child-centred care and safeguarding excellence
- Previous experience as Registered Manager in children’s residential care
- Driving licence (preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience preparing homes for Ofsted inspections
