Position: Lead Inspector / Trainee Project Manager
Are you an experienced bridge inspector ready to step up to Project Manager? Our client is a nationwide specialist in structural inspection, investigation, testing and repair across highways, rail, waterways and utilities. They want a Lead Inspector to lead a young, developing team and grow into a Project Manager.

This is a hands-on role. You'll stay active on site leading inspections while you lead and develop a team of 4–5 Inspectors. With support from experienced Project Managers, you'll take on client management, planning and full project delivery.

What you'll do

Lead Principal, General and Special Inspections to CS450/CD450, including desk studies beforehand and reports afterwards

Manage, mentor and develop a team of 4–5 Inspectors, both on site and in the office

Technically check your team's reports so the quality stays high

Be the day-to-day contact for your clients and build strong, lasting relationships with them

Deliver small and medium projects from start to finish: RAMS, permits, programming, access and traffic management

Learn the commercial side: quotations, costs, variations, applications and profitability
What you'll need

Solid experience as a bridge inspector
Senior BICS certification or equivalent (ideally)
Confidence with clients and good communication skills
An approachable, supportive way of leading a young team
A hands-on, active approach, including fitness for work at height, in confined spaces, over water and within traffic management
A full UK driving licence and a CSCS card (Green as a minimum)
Willingness to work nights, some weekends and away from home
Desirable: an ONC or HNC/D in Civil Engineering, and PTS with a valid medical

IPAF, PASMA, confined space and NDT training are all provided
