Practice Nurse Vacancy at The Old Station Surgery

We are a long-established practice operating from 3 sites across Ilkeston with a patient list of circa 15,000. As a long-standing Nottingham and Derby University Teaching Practice, we value caring and high‑quality care for our patients and support for one another. We are high QOF achievers and use TPP Systm One clinical system, Ardens templates and Accurx.

About the role:

The Practice Nurse will perform a full range of nursing duties, including immunisations, smears and wound management, while building strong relationships with a diverse patient population. The role combines teamwork with autonomy in decision‑making and supports the delivery of high‑standard, evidence‑based care. You will work 18 hours a week across all three sites, with shifts on Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday, in combination of AM and PM shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care and support the GP team in the management of common and complex conditions.
  • Carry out immunisations, smears, wound assessment and dressing, and chronic disease monitoring.
  • Participate in the delivery of a high standard and evidence‑based care to our patient population.
  • Work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team to achieve clinical goals.
  • Support participation in clinical quality improvement and QOF targets.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Registered General Nurse.
  • Minimum of 1 year post qualification nursing experience.
  • Experience in primary care is an advantage.
  • Qualification in chronic disease management, or willingness to be trained, is an advantage.
