Book and Music Shop Volunteer (On-line Lister Ilkley Bookshop)

At Oxfam we sell curated, pre‑loved books and music, helping to empower communities worldwide. As a volunteer you will help turn these treasures into valuable resources for our customers and support Oxfam’s mission of creating a fairer world.

You will gain retail experience in merchandising, customer service and teamwork; meet like‑minded people; and enjoy flexible volunteering options that fit your schedule.

• Selecting, sorting, pricing and up‑dating donated stock.
• Researching valuable and rare items.
• Welcoming customers and handling transactions at the till.
• Creating eye‑catching visual merchandises such as window and in‑store displays.
• Photographing and listing items for the online shop.
• Occasionally lifting boxes (safe working environment and training included).

• Reliable and punctual attendance.
• Team‑oriented and willing to collaborate.
• Knowledge or interest in books or music.
• Full training provided – no prior experience required.

• Lunch and travel costs covered (confirm with the Manager).

After you apply, the manager will invite you for an initial chat – a friendly conversation to discuss your interests and fit. Following that, you will meet the volunteer team and begin supporting the shop in your chosen area.
