The Role

We re seeking a Senior Accountant (CPA or EA) to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our diverse client base. This is a full‑time, on‑site position in our Naperville office.

In this role, you ll wear multiple hats: client advisor, technical expert, and team leader. You ll manage your own portfolio of clients while also helping develop our junior staff and strengthen our internal accounting operations.

What You ll Do:
  • Client Services: Prepare financial statements, manage monthly close processes, and provide strategic financial insights to help small business clients make informed decisions
  • Tax Support: Assist with tax preparation and filings during busy season, identify tax planning opportunities throughout the year
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, manage our back office team
  • Systems & Process: Maintain accurate records in Quick Books, develop efficient workflows, ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Business Development: Build strong client relationships, identify opportunities for additional services

Requirements

Must Have:

  • Active CPA or EA license
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting, or equivalent (ideally with small to mid‑size firms)
  • Strong technical knowledge: financial statements, month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Quick Books and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience managing or mentoring staff
  • Excellent communication skills – you ll be explaining complex financial concepts to non‑accountant business owners
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Nice to Have:

  • Tax preparation experience (we ll train you on our systems)
  • Experience with Ultra Tax, Safe Send, or other Thomson Reuters products
  • Familiarity with tech consulting, medical, or professional services industries
  • Process improvement mindset

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
