Under the general supervision of the Concession Supervisor and the Food & Beverage Manager, the Paddle boat Shift Lead is responsible for day-to-day operations at the Paddle boat Quarry Rental facility and the Visitors Center. This includes cleanliness of the facilities and dock amenities, money handling, assisting patrons on and off the paddle boats/boards/kayaks, providing tours of the Carillon and performing a variety of customer service functions.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Provide an exceptional customer service experience for visitors. Maintain a full knowledge of food and beverage items available for purchase and all paddle boat rentals and tour operations options.
- Manage work of others, including planning, assigning, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for training, and developing, reviewing performance, and administering performance improvement plans for staff.
- Maintain on-going open communication and notify the Concession Supervisor of situations regarding the operation such as broken equipment, shortages, and facility damage.
- Complete accurate inventory counts and enforce inventory controls including spot checks on product counts. Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Report inventory in need of replacement to the Concession Supervisor.
- In the absence of a Paddle boat Attendant, take food, beverage and rental orders from customers through use of the point-of-sale system. Present customer with an accurate bill for their purchase and receive payment. Ensure confidential use of customer information, including credit card transactions and household accounts.
- Conduct tours of the Carillon and assist with weekly Twilight Carillon Tours.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of the Visitors Center and all Riverwalk Quarry Rental areas and assist with required health department inspections.
- Successfully balance receipts, reconcile transactions, and prepare daily bank deposits.
- Respond to all customer comments and inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Conduct facility and equipment inspections and communicate repair needs to the Concession Supervisor, Trades Division, and/or Parks Department.
- Ensure public safety by monitoring inside the facility and surrounding area. Respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Presentation of sale of products and rentals.
- Perform general maintenance of paddle boats, dock, building, and grounds.
- Attend meetings and training as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Skill in the operation of food preparation and management.
- Ability to operate kitchen machinery and tools.
- General knowledge of food sanitation standards and emergency procedures.
- General knowledge of aquatic safety, liability, and risk management practices.
- Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns.
- Ability to multitask, organize, and maintain attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of different tasks at the same time.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Illinois Food Handler's Certification within one (1) month of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within two (2) months of hire.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Subject to modified/flexible work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to heat from appliances, smoke, steam, cleaning chemicals, food, and odors.
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 30 lbs on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Lifting assistance is required when lifting > 30 lbs.
- Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, standing, and climbing.
- Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.
