Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant’s primary responsibility is to promote and maintain health by providing safe and effective medical services under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. The PA provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, as delegated by the supervising physician. As a member of the health care team, the PA takes medical histories, examines and treats patients, orders and interprets laboratory tests and X‑rays, and makes diagnoses.

The PA can also医院 treat minor injuries, record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order or carry out therapy. The physician assistant may prescribe some medications based on the details of the collaborative agreement with the supervising physician, and may also supervise technicians and assistants.

• Contribute to the physician’s effectiveness by identifying short‑term and long‑range patient care issues, providing pertinent information, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing physician directives.
• Assess the patient’s health by interviewing, performing physical examinations, and obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
• Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as laboratory tests or radiology studies, and interpreting results.
• Prescribe medications based on any restrictions within the cooperative agreement with the supervising physician.
• Document patient care completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
• Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide instruction and counseling.

• Provide continuity of care by working with the supervising physician to develop and implement patient management plans.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing professional networks, and participating in societies.
• Develop health‑care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
• Monitor the performance of lower‑level healthcare professionals including nurses, technicians, and medical assistants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Education Level: Graduate of an accredited physician assistant curriculum.
• Certification:
  Certification by passing the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE).
• Licensure:
  Licensure to practice in the State of Illinois;
  Controlled Substance License and DEA preferred.
• Experience Requirements:
  One year of suppressed provides experience in a health‑care setting is preferred.
• Other Requirements:
  Must be Dennable to complete computer work.
