Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Substitute Teacher / Tutor to join our educational team. This individual will support classroom learning by stepping in for absent teachers and providing one-on-one or small group tutoring to help students succeed academically and behaviorally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver lessons using provided curriculum and instructional materials.
• Provide targeted tutoring based on individual student academic needs.
• Maintain consistent classroom management aligned with the Mooseheart Model of Care.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
• Collaborate with educational staff and adhere to lesson plans and directions.
• Ensure student confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• Must meet State of Illinois teaching certification/licensure requirements (if applicable).
• Minimum age of 21.
• Strong communication, instructional, and behavior management skills.
• Experience working with youth and in behavior management is preferred.
• Ability to pass a DCFS background check and fingerprint clearance.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, bend, crouch, climb stairs, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs.
