Position Summary

Summary:

The assistant coach supports the head coach in running the athletic program in line with school district policies and IHSA regulations. They help implement training, practices, and game plans while mentoring student-athletes in teamwork, sportsmanship, and development. Responsibilities include ensuring eligibility compliance, assisting with recruitment, and maintaining clear communication. The role also involves supporting administrative tasks, upholding school policies, and serving as a positive role model.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach in running the athletic program in accordance with district policies and IHSA regulations.
  • Help implement training plans, practices, and game strategies.
  • Mentor student-athletes in teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.
  • Ensure student eligibility compliance.
  • Assist with recruitment and communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Support administrative tasks and uphold school policies.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and staff.
Qualifications
  • Professional Educator License, Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessional – ELS (PARA), Substitute (SUB license must be registered in DuPage County), or NFHS certification
  • Previous experience is preferred, but not required
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work positively and productively with adults and student participants
  • Expected student contact beyond teaching contract
Practice and Schedule
  • Practice and games 6 days per week
  • Expected weekend and holiday competitions/performances/events/travel
  • Varies by sport
Physical Demands
  • Regularly stand, sit, walk, talk, demonstrate, and listen.
  • May regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, such as athletic equipment.
Terms of Employment
  • Status: BEA Stipend Schedule or BSEO Stipend Schedule
