The School Counselor provides academic, post‑secondary, and social‑emotional counseling services to students in grades 9–12 and serves as a key member of the Student Services team. Responsibilities include monitoring academic progress, supporting course selection and graduation planning, providing post‑secondary counseling, and collaborating with staff and families to address student needs. Counselors serve as generalists supporting a caseload of students across grades 9–12.
Additional responsibilities include delivering components of the school counseling curriculum, supporting district and building initiatives, participating in multidisciplinary problem solving teams, and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications- Master's degree in School Counseling
- Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counselor endorsement
- Experience providing academic, career, and social‑emotional counseling to adolescents
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- High school counseling experience, preferably in a comprehensive public high school setting
- Experience with college admissions counseling and post‑secondary planning
- Experience supporting Section 504 Plans
