Scope

As a Law Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of the next generation of legal professionals. Your responsibilities will span across teaching, curriculum development, research and community engagement, aiming to deliver an outstanding educational experience. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about both technology and education, eager to contribute to the academic and professional development of our students.

The candidates shall be a staff member of either the Civil Law Department, Islamic Law Department or Legal Practice Department of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws and shall perform teaching, examining and research duties and other obligations normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.

The candidates should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to colleagues and students as part of their duties as a member of the academic staff of the IIUM.

As a lecturer and member of the academic staff, the candidate is required to attend any meetings related to administrative positions they may hold. This attendance is mandated by appointments made under the IIUM or through administrative directives issued by the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department/Institute/Office/Mahallah.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development:
    Design and update comprehensive law courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards.
  • Teaching Excellence:
    Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials and practical sessions across a variety of law subjects, incorporating cutting‑edge technologies and software.
  • Student Assessment:
    Create and evaluate examinations, assignments and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
  • Research Contribution:
    Conduct and publish impactful research in the field of laws, and supervise student research projects and theses.
  • Professional Development:
    Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
  • Community and Industry Engagement:
    Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
  • Mentorship:
    Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must hold a Doctorate (PhD), Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Laws from a recognised university.
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 in Bachelor’s Degree.

Minimum Competencies

Particularly in a higher education context, competencies typically encompass a blend of academic qualifications, teaching abilities, research skills and personal attributes that enable effective education delivery, student engagement and contribution to the academic community. Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage.

Other Requirements

Candidates Must Possess a Strong Foundation and Knowledge in Laws. In addition to this essential expertise, proficiency or specialisation in any of the following areas is highly desirable.
