Overview

The Holland Energy Facility, situated in Beecher City, Illinois, is an impressive 665 MW combined‑cycle power plant comprising two 7FA gas‑fired DLN combustion turbines, each complemented by high‑efficiency Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), all seamlessly integrated with a single, powerful steam turbine.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor status of all plant systems continuously.
  • Respond to alarms with appropriate corrective actions, and execute plant start‑up and shut‑down procedures as required.
  • Ensure the plant meets generating requirements while operating safely and efficiently.
  • Report upset conditions or anomalies to the Operations Manager or Lead O&M Technician.
  • Apply water chemistry control, analyze water conditions, operate water treatment facilities, and handle chemicals.
  • Respond to orders and requests from electrical, steam, and fuel dispatchers.
  • Operate control panels for regulating load on HRSG and turbines.
  • Execute emergency operations to protect equipment and service.
  • Provide direction to O&M Technicians for implementing changes.
  • Fulfill additional tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.
  • Complete the O&M Technician qualification card.

Working Relationships

The O&M Technician reports to the Operations Manager and coordinates with all other plant personnel to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms, and lifting up to 50 lb.
  • Environment may involve confined spaces, narrow passages, hazardous materials, fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise.
  • May require protective equipment: hard hats, safety glasses, eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame‑resistant clothing, hot gloves, high‑voltage protective gear, fall protection; fit testing for respirators may be required.
  • Strict smoking restrictions apply.
Fitness for Duty

All personnel participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, including post‑offer physical exam, drug screening, and post‑employment random drug screening.

Work Schedule

The O&M Technician follows a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule, covering 24/7 operations. The position may require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional callouts or on‑call status.

Compensation

Base pay: $37–$45 per hour, plus annual performance bonus.

Core Qualifications And Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    Associate Degree in technical field desirable.
  • Knowledge of power plant industry and experience in operating or generating plant.
  • Experience in water chemistry control, analysis, water treatment, and chemical handling.
  • Knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed‑system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and plant parameter inspection/recording.
  • Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and self‑direction; creative problem‑solving.
  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license in good standing.
