- Design owner of products.
- Develop design concepts through a process of optimization.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manage development agreements.
- Provide quality leadership via PPAP and APQP rigor.
- Lead current product improvements based on field feedback.
- Collaborate with machine businesses NPI & NTI product programs and their design groups.
- Own supply chain aspects of materials and cost.
- Identify and work with other Caterpillar subject matter experts on design aspects.
- Coordinate execution and design efforts necessary for successful design and development.
Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
Product Development: Knowledge of product development lifecycle for rotating component assemblies, ability to bring new or improved products to market.
- Mechanical and electrical systems experience with emphasis on electric drive systems.
- Coordinated marketing and product development plans.
- Strong computer‑aided design skills.
- Ability to estimate time, effort, and resources required for thorough development through design and testing.
- Collaborate with test engineers to understand testing alternatives and considerations for production and development testing.
- Manage a significant piece of a product roadmap.
- Oversee all phases, activities and deliverables of the product development methodology.
- Approaches complex problems by breaking them down into component parts.
- Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve the decision‑making process.
- Assesses and validates decision options and predicts potential impact.
- Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.
- Uses consultative, command, or consensus decision‑making approaches.
- Ensures assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed.
- Coaches others in providing superior technical solutions.
- Adapts documents and presentations for intended audience.
- Demonstrates empathy and assertiveness in communication.
- Employs appropriate persuasion methods when soliciting agreement.
- Utilizes tools, techniques, and methods for estimating project cost and time.
- Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.
- Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
- Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with team, sponsors, and clients.
- Maintains open communication among project participants.
- Communicates reporting requirements and creates monitoring mechanisms.
- Evaluates business impact of failure and criticality of needed resolution.
- Resolves difficult or high‑impact equipment and systems problems.
- Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.
- Coaches others in resolving integration or communication problems in multi‑vendor environment.
- Applies techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.
- Uses advanced diagnostic techniques for unusual or performance‑related problems.
