The Montrose Environmental Solutions (MES) team delivers solutions for complex environmental challenges using regulatory expertise and compliant management processes. We specialize in regulatory compliance, permitting, auditing, eco-services, assessment, remediation, emergency response, waste management, and legal enforcement, with professionals including engineers, scientists, remediation specialists, geologists, hydro geologists, biologists, and environmental compliance specialists supporting public and private sector clients.
Position
Our Air Quality Project Manager position is located in Houston, TX, and is performed on a Hybrid basis (2 days a week in the office). The air quality team is growing, and we are looking to add a project manager to our collaborative and forward-thinking office culture. Experience with air quality permitting and/or compliance for clients in the chemicals and refining sectors is preferred.
ResponsibilitiesNew source review (NSR), non-attainment NSR and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting and Title V permitting.
Regulatory air dispersion modeling using US EPA recommended models (e.g., AERMOD).
Emission calculations and emissions inventory development.
Best available control technology (BACT) assessments.
Regulatory applicability analyses, including state, local, and federal regulations.
Additional responsibilities for this role include

Responsible for the administrative and project management of a team of consultants.
Quality control of personal work as well as projects being managed.
Effective communication with both external and internal customers.
Development and maintenance of trusting professional relationships with clients.
Promote Spirit externally to clients.
Your expertise and skills
Advanced understanding of relevant regulations related to your tasks, projects, and client operations.
Depth of technical competencies to solve problems and scope new projects accurately and completely.
Breadth of technical competencies to work with multiple industries and/or multiple clients within a large industry.
Ability to mentor and train team members.
Analytical problem-solving skills.
Effective time management and written and verbal communication.
Professionalism to establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients and co-workers.
Proficiency with MS Office suite and time/expense tracking software.
Understanding of software/tools applicable to your project (e.g., AERMOD, SCREEN3, TRI-ME).
Understanding of engineering concepts such as chemical processes and emissions control technologies.
Requirements
:
B.S. or above from an accredited college or university in engineering or a related scientific discipline.
Minimum 5 to 7 years of air quality consulting experience.
Experience as a Project Manager is highly preferred, with emphasis on managing timelines, budgets, and successful delivery.
A high level of professional ethics; ability to work independently and in a team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Exercise safe work practices by following all Montrose and client safety rules and regulations, including safety training.
Participation in the company’s continuous improvement programs and support of team efforts.
